Story

I was contacted by a woman who used the name Darya Melnikova. She presented herself as a friendly young woman from Ukraine and quickly started talking about traveling abroad, specifically to Austria, to build a serious relationship. Early communication felt personal and reassuring, but it also moved quickly away from public platforms into private chats. Once the conversation was private, she controlled what information remained visible and made it harder to keep a clear record of the original contact. Over time, I found that the same person appeared to be active on webcam platforms under the usernames alster_eva (BongaCams) and quicksilver (Chaturbate). The contrast was notable: on cam sites the presentation was sexualized and performance-based, while in private messaging she switched to a different role — a vulnerable woman looking for emotional support and help while describing Ukraine’s wartime situation. In my case, romantic messaging and travel plans were used alongside that background, which raised concerns about a coordinated approach rather than a genuine relationship. To support her story, she sent me a scan of a Ukrainian international passport under the name “Darya Melnikova.” The passport image was presented as proof that she was real, prepared to cross the border, and only needed an invitation and support with travel expenses. However, the document itself did not appear consistent with a genuine Ukrainian passport. Several elements did not match what official Ukrainian passports typically look like, which strongly suggested that the scan was not authentic. A document like this would not be usable for legal travel, border crossing, or visa procedures. The stated plan was for me to bring her to Austria. Based on how the conversation developed, the expected next stage was clear: once a man accepts the passport scan as real and starts planning travel, the situation can shift toward money requests tied to “visa fees,” “tickets,” “insurance,” “border charges,” or last-minute emergencies shortly before the supposed trip. In this setup, the passport scan functions as psychological proof — it makes the travel promise feel realistic and lowers resistance to sending funds. In my case, the combination of private-channel communication, travel promises, the alleged passport scan, and her presence on webcam platforms under different identities created a high-risk pattern. Even before any large sum is requested, the structure looks designed to build trust first and introduce financial pressure later, when the victim feels committed and emotionally invested.
